At Green People, we combine plant extracts, oils and essences to create organic

Our entire range is free from Lanolin, SLS/SLES, Parabens, Petrochemicals, Propylene
glycol, synthetic fragrances and any other irritating chemicals. All of our natural skin care products are vegetarian, and most are
suitable for use by vegans. None have been tested on animals.

Although some of the products are in our baby or men’s ranges, they can be used
by everyone. Our baby products are particularly effective for those with skin conditions
or very sensitive skin as they are extra-mild.
Many skin care products are described as being hypoallergenic. Unfortunately, this
term can be a little misleading, as people can be allergic to the gentlest of plant
ingredients, such as aloe vera, so it is not actually possible to create anything
which is 100% hypoallergenic. However, our avoidance of known irritants means that
our products are suitable for many people who have skin sensitivities and allergies.
Skin allergies
An allergy occurs when your body identifies an environmental substance as being
dangerous, and reacts accordingly. What your body reacts to could be just about
anything; dust, pollen, chemicals, pets and latex are just some of the more common
ones. You might also be allergic to some foods, such as milk, wheat or nuts.
When you have allergic skin reaction to something in your environment, you may display
one or more symptoms. The symptoms may take the form of eczema, swelling, rashes,
and itchy eyes or skin.
We have found our best products for skin allergy sufferers to be:
Eczema
Eczema is a skin condition which is diagnosed in around 1 in 6 children. Most grow
out of it by their teenage years, and only 3 in 100 adults display its symptoms.
In ‘dry’ eczema these include dry, red, inflamed and itchy skin, most commonly around
the joints where the skin rubs against itself, such as the knees, elbows, wrists
and neck. An exception to this is in babies, where eczema is commonly seen on the
face.
If you have more severe eczema, or the affected skin is sufficiently disturbed,
you may develop weeping, blistered patches. This is known as ‘wet’ eczema, and its
symptoms are treated in a different way to ‘dry’ eczema.

Sensitive skin
Around 50% of the adult population have sensitive skin, with slightly more women
having it than men. If your skin burns, stings or itches after the application of
soap, bubble bath or cosmetics, then you may well have sensitive skin.
Those who have mild sensitive skin will only have an occasional reaction to these
skin products, whilst those who have more sensitive skin may develop irritant contact
dermatitis or mild eczema. When sensitive skin is irritated, calming lotions help
to relieve symptoms and heal the affected patches.
We have found our best products for people with sensitive skin to be:
Psoriasis
Psoriasis affects around 2 in 100 people in the UK, and is characterised by red,
scaly patches of skin which are known as plaques. These plaques often have a whitish
sheen to them, and can be itchy. As well as occurring on the skin, different forms
of psoriasis can also affect the scalp, nails and joints.
It is difficult to predict when flare-ups of psoriasis will occur, as they are not
connected to allergies, as with sensitive skin or eczema. However, treatment can
be similar, with the application of creams to soothe and help the skin recover,
although in some cases, phototherapy (non-burning exposure to sunlight) has been
shown to help.
