What ingredients do we avoid in our organic sun lotions?

Woman skipping on Beach Many people look for organic sun lotions as they do not want to expose their skin to the multitude of chemicals which are found in most mainstream sun care products. Green People’s natural sunscreens offer an excellent alternative to the high street brands, as they offer just as much protection from the sun’s rays, but do not contain the chemicals which concern consumers.

So which ingredients won’t we use?

  • PABA (also known as para-aminobenzoic acid). This ingredient is commonly used in sun lotions due to its UV-filtering action. Unfortunately, it has also been found to cause allergic reactions and can cause sensitivity to sunlight in some people.
  • Octyl methoxycinnamate Extremely widely used in sunscreens, this ingredient is popular thanks to its low skin sensitivity rate. We decline to use it in our organic sun lotions, however, as some research suggests that it could have negative health implications.
  • Oxybenzone (also known as Benzophenone-3). This is a common ingredient in sun lotions which is used to filter the sun’s UVA rays. However, it can irritate sensitive skin and it has been linked with prickly heat in some people.

At Green People, we are committed to using the safest, most effective ingredients possible in our organic sun lotions so that our customers are best protected from the effects of the sun’s rays. Read more about reasons to choose Green People’s organic sun lotion.
