How does natural hair care differ from mainstream brands?
How our natural hair care products
differ from highstreet brands is one of the most common questions we get asked by
customers, and one of the most important, too. The answer highlights the great divide
in quality of ingredients and value for money that exists between the mainstream,
chemical-using brands and the specialist natural, organic brands.

No nasty chemicals
There is growing concern about the chemicals which go into our skin and hair care
products, and the effect these are having on our bodies. One of the most common
chemicals found in shampoos is Sodium Lauryl/Laureth Sulphate (SLS/SLES). This is
what makes the product foam and lather up, but can also cause skin irritation and
long-term use has even been linked with hair damage.
The natural hair care products in
Green People’s range are different in that they are not made with SLS/SLES or any
other synthetic chemicals which may have negative health effects. We use pure, natural
formulations which have a high percentage of organic ingredients (the exact percentage
varies between products). The purity of our products often means that they are suitable
for people prone to skin conditions such as eczema and scalp psoriasis.

Get more for your money
It is startling that some mainstream shampoos are between 80% and 90% water, which
means that you have to use more to have the desired effect. Whilst you are paying
low prices for your shampoo, you are also getting less value for money.
The fact that natural shampoos often cost more than their mainstream equivalents
cannot be avoided, but it can be explained. The natural shampoos in Green People’s
range are far more concentrated so much smaller quantities need to be used in each
hair wash. In fact, one of our bottles of shampoo can last up to three times longer
than usual brands.
This better efficiency is also good for the planet as well as your pocket, as the
amount of packaging you get through using
natural hair care products is far reduced.
