Ammonium alum – a safe and effective deodoriser!

Two common pore-clogging types of aluminium used in antiperspirants are called Aluminium chlorohydrate and Aluminium zirconium chlorohydrate. You’ll be happy to hear that our organic deodorants do not contain these.

Instead, we use Ammonium alum, a mineral salt which reduces bacterial growth on the skin and is considered to be very safe for use in body care products. It does contain some aluminium but not the types that clog pores. It is physically impossible because it is much too big to pass through the skin so it just sits on top.

Whilst we can’t say that ours are aluminium-free deodorants because they do contain some Ammonium alum, they are natural, safe and effective – just what everyone wants from their deodorant.
