Why do you use alunite in your natural deodorants?

Woman with Natural Hair Care Products Green People’s natural deodorants contain alunite, also known as ammonium alum, mostly because it is extremely effective at preventing body odour and it does so safely.

Some people worry when they see “ammonium alum” in the ingredients of a natural deodorant, as other types of aluminium are used in mainstream antiperspirants to clog the skin’s pores and prevent sweating.

How does alunite differ from aluminium?

It is understandable to be concerned about the effects of pore-clogging aluminium and it is for that reason that we provide a natural alternative.

The alunite used in our natural deodorants acts in a completely different way to the aluminium used in antiperspirants. What it does is create a layer of salt on the surface of the skin, which helps to control the bacteria that cause body odour. It does this by constricting the proteins found on the skin, which the bacteria need to feed and thrive.

It cannot penetrate the skin, as other forms of aluminium can, due to its larger molecule structure. As it doesn’t clog the skin’s pores, it allows you to sweat, which is important for getting rid of toxins from within.
