19th Nov 2010 - Benefits of propolis recognised by researchers
Green People has long used organic bees’ propolis in its Fennel Toothpaste as we recognise its powerful anti-microbial properties.
However science and mainstream toothpaste brands have somewhat neglected this amazing ingredient because its texture and scent are not the easiest to work with.
Researchers from the University of Bradford have been working on changing its form and the professor in charge of the study offered further detail on its useful role in oral care products.
“Propolis has been shown to be anti-microbial, anti-fungal, a strong anti-oxidant, non-allergenic and can boost the immune system. It also promotes wound healing and has anaesthetic properties.”
There are plans for the newly-formed propolis to be used as a mouth ulcer treatment as it is said to be better than gels already on the market and can safely be used by children.
 | Green People is delighted to see the remarkable properties of propolis receiving recognition, as it really is an amazing active for oral care.
Natural ingredients are often underrated, perhaps because they have not been synthesised for purpose in labs, but this research just shows how nature can provide some very useful solutions to human problems.
If the mouth ulcer gel proves successful, it could pave the way for more natural oral health products to be brought to the mainstream – a move welcomed by those involved with the natural and organic industry.
Green People will continue to use organic propolis in the Fennel Toothpaste, which also contains organic essential oils, Vitamin C and Myrrh to give further protection against bacterial growth. Read more about this natural toothpaste now. |
