Women buying male grooming products

Women are responsible for around half of all male grooming products sold, say retail researchers.

Sales of men’s skin care products have shot up in recent years, with items such as moisturiser, eye cream and face scrubs becoming increasingly popular.

However, curiously it appears that women are playing a significant part in this increase, not men.

The reason for this is that more men are looking after their skin, but initially by borrowing their partner’s skin care products instead of buying male grooming products themselves.

Women appear to be recognising the need for their boyfriends or husbands to have their own dedicated products, and purchasing men’s moisturisers and exfoliators on that basis.

One beauty expert commented: “We often get female customers coming in to buy products for their husbands.

“Some tell us they are now having to buy twice as much because their husbands and boyfriends are pinching their products in the shower.

“Modern man is changing. Men are starting to look after their skin more and there’s more products on the market just for them.”

Natural grooming products for men from Organic Homme

Green People recently launched its expanded and reformulated Organic Homme range and has seen a tremendous response, both from men – who the range is aimed at – and female customers shopping for their husbands.Natural grooming products

Charlotte Vøhtz, the founder of Green People, commented on why more men are looking for natural grooming products, saying: “The average man uses 7-8 grooming products a day which may contain hundreds of different synthetic chemicals that can often cause irritations, blemishes and dry, flaky skin.

“Organic Homme is created exclusively to meet the everyday grooming needs of men and combines powerful organic and natural actives chosen for their soothing and calming properties.”
