Renewable Energy
As a mail order company with a strong internet presence we need energy to run our efficient, modern office. We recognise the impact of non-renewable energy sources on the environment, which drove us to find a sustainable energy solution that has minimal environmental impact.

100% Renewable energy
Green People uses Ecotricity as its energy supplier as we feel this is the most eco friendly option in the energy market. We get all of our power from renewable sources and are also contributing to an expansion of clean energy production capacity. Recycling for a better future
We find that a lot of our customers are interested in our environmental policies, which is only natural given our line of business and the growing concern about the impact man is having on our planet. Many of these concern recycling - both how we recycle as a company and how our products can be recycled after use.
Recycling at our office
- We minimise print-outs wherever possible in our office in order to save paper
- The paper we do use is recycled, as are the toners we use in our printers
- We shred all the waste paper that we produce and use it as part of our packaging

We reuse all of the polystyrene chips used in goods delivered to us in parcels we send out

We recycle or re-use the plastics, glass and cardboard which come to our office
Recycling our product packaging
- The plastics used in our product tubes (PP/HDPE) are recyclable.
We chose to use plastic as it takes less energy to produce than glass and is safer for our customers.

The boxes we use to encase our products are made from 50% recycled board and 50% sustainable wood.
- Unfortunately, we have to box our products as legislation dictates a lot of information which must be visible to our customers.

Being kind to the environment: sustainability
Sustainability touches every part of our business, from the methods by which our ingredients are grown to the packaging chips we put in our parcels. We are proud to put every effort into sourcing sustainably and are constantly striving to do even more for the environment.

Sustainability & biodegradability
- The chips we buy for packaging are made from corn starch and are completely biodegradable

The vast majority of the ingredients we use are 100% compatible with nature and biodegrade quickly

Most of our ingredients are grown organically which prohibits the use of synthetic fertilisers, pesticides, herbicides and fungicides

Ingredients grown organically must be grown sustainably and must have minimal negative impact on the environment
- Where possible, ingredients are locally sourced. All are transported by sea or land, never by air
- Our manufacturing facility has its own bore-hole for water which is micro-filtered to remove impurities

Our ingredients are approved under the Nordic Swan Mark scheme

Working in our eco office
As a company selling products that are eco-friendly and kind to your body, Green People had to have an office that reflected this. Our founder Charlotte demanded the very best from everything that went into the building, from the paint on the walls to the desks and kitchen units.
Office practices:

We have energy-efficient and eco-friendly appliances throughout our office

We have zoned heating areas and infra-red heaters which save energy by heating people not air

Our office walls are painted with VOC-free, eco-friendly paint and our flooring is made from natural materials

Our products are created in a building heated by geothermal energy

Fairly traded ingredients from sustainable sources
We use many natural ingredients in our organic skin care products which are grown by people all over the world. Many live in areas of deprivation but we are dedicated to ensuring that our ingredients are grown by people who are treated fairly.
