Organic Children Sun Lotion SPF25 - Scent Free

"On our previous holidays in the sun, our daughter (aged 8) has always come out in a 'prickly heat' type rash on her chest and stomach within a day or two of being in the sun/pool, despite using good quality suntan creams. This rash then turned very sore making it almost impossible to apply further suntan cream or moisturisers, which in turn made the holiday unpleasant for all. This year we decided to give the 'organic children' products a go, after reading some of the reviews, and we are VERY glad that we did, as the products worked brilliantly. For the first time ever, no prickly heat, no sore skin, just a lovely tan and very soft skin. In fact the aftersun is so good and smells great, we will continue using it on a regular basis, now we are home. We would recommend this product to any parent looking for a suntan cream."

"Having two children that both come out with eczema or a rash after using anything perfumed and even the non perfumed "sensitive/non-allergy for kids" products I have finally found something that they can wear all over, even on their face, backs of knees etc without any reaction. "My son, who is five years old, has eczema and a peanut allergy, and in the last two years he has become really allergic to sun creams. It has been a nightmare I can’t even tell you how many high street brands I’ve tried! Even prescription sun creams have flared his eczema up. "My son is nearly 6 years old and ever since he was born has been highly allergic to sun cream. We have tried loads of high street brands from the cheaper end of the price spectrum to the most expensive. They all say that they are hypoallergenic and are designed for children with sensitive skin. However, all of them give him an itchy prickly heat rash within an hour of application. This rash is so itchy that he finds it hard to sleep without taking a dose of anti histamine. The rash can last up to 5 days.

Before he started school we could manage the sun without creams, always ensuring he had a hat and where possible a UV suit or just limiting his exposure to the sun. Now he is at school all day it is out of our control. The first sunny day his face burnt. In despair I went to my GP for help, he could not recommend anything but spoke to a dermatologist friend of his who suggested scent free products.

I tried this product and it is wonderful. My son has no reaction what so ever. I can send him to school on sunny days without worry. He gets to go off in the morning without a lecture on playing out of the sun so he loves it too."

"We were on holiday in Jamaica when my daughter's face swelled and we had to take her to a doctor. She was diagnosed with solar dermatitis and given strong anti histamines etc. Later in the UK the same thing happened yet without the same sun intensity. My son seems to be allergic to most sun lotions on the market and develops a nasty itchy rash which last for days afterwards. I was beginning to get desprate as to what sun cream to try next. I googled for help and came across tons of extremely positive testimonials for the Green People Sun Lotion for children. I read almost all the reviews and bought the sun cream on the strength of them. I just have to say how amazed I am with your products. I am a doting, first time grandmother of gorgeous little Harry, now aged 11months. From a couple of months old, he suffered from skin problems on his face, hands, feet etc. My daughter was visiting the G.P. regularly, but the various creams and lotions seemed to make it worse. Also, in this sunny weather we've been having - sun creams really made his skin flare up. So I did a little on-line research and found your site. I ordered some products - my daughter has been using them for about a month now - and we particularly like the sun cream and baby salve. Within days Harry's skin was so much better - it has now been clear for 3 weeks - previously unheard of - especially in this heatwave. Our sun lotions offer around 96% coverage from UVB rays and a factor 50 would only offer 2% more in coverage. However the SPF number only relates to UVB rays, not UVA, and sun lotion needs to be re-applied regularly to maintain protection from both.

The danger in giving a higher SPF factor gives false confidence to stay out in the sun for longer periods. The UVA rays have a deeper effect in the skin cells and you cannot see the damage this is causing (the UVB rays are the ones that cause the burning on the surface of the skin).

We therefore recommend that you re-apply sun lotion every couple of hours to maintain protection against both UVA & UVB rays.

We are sure you are aware, sun exposure for babies & children must be controlled. Skin should be covered with light clothing and bear in mind that UV radiation can pass through clothing. Also make sure kids wear a wide-rimmed hat that shades the neck, ears and face – the best ones have ribbons attached so they can be tied under the chin. Alternatively, use a parasol for protection.
