A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN OLYMPIC TRAINING REGIME

I’ve been rowing since I was about 15 and have been full-time athlete for 6 years. Some of the training we do can be heinous and there are countless other ups and downs that make the sport very challenging. That said, making the British Team is quite literally a dream come true and I’m currently training hard for the European Championships and preparing for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

The European Championships take place on 31st May in Lucerne, Switzerland and ahead of this the team has been training in Portugal. We usually train 3 times a day and a typical training day starts early, usually with check in with our science team at 6:20. After this we head out on the water for a 20km row at 7:30 before working out in the gym. After some lunchtime respite we row again at 5pm before ending the day with a team briefing with our coach.

A SWEAT-RESISTANT SUN LOTION

I don’t have much hair left on my head so it’s important for me to be smart when I’m out in the sun. I always wear a hat and know that the most important thing I can do for my skin is to wear a high-factor Sun Cream.

One of the toughest things about training in Portugal is the heat. When you train as intensely as we do, you tend to sweat a lot and to survive the heat it is important that our kit bags are well supplied with effective, water-resistant sun lotion.

The Green People sun cream, 15 and 30 SPF, is the first and only sun cream I’ve found to date that I really enjoy using. It’s the only sun cream that doesn’t run into my eyes whilst I’m training and sweating hard, whilst obviously also doing the important job of protecting my skin from harmful sun rays.

A REFRESHING SHOWER GEL

After training I always use the Green People Quinoa & Calendula shower. It smells great and leaves my skin feeling fresh even after a 20km row. To keep BO at bay I then apply the Green People MInt & Prebiotics Deodorant.
