When it comes to preventing wrinkles, a good anti-ageing cream is of paramount importance, but could you get more out of your moisturiser by changing the way you apply your beauty products?
To get optimum results from Age Defy+ by Cha Vøhtz skin care, the first thing to consider is the way you are applying your cleanser, serum and facial cream. By simply changing the order that you apply your products, you could allow the active ingredients to penetrate the skin more deeply.
THE BEST ORDER TO APPLY ANTI-AGEING SKIN CARE IS:
- CLEANSER: Thorough cleansing of the skin stimulates circulation and helps the skin absorb face creams and other anti-ageing products. Always cleanse the skin before applying skin care and before bed. Also be sure to exfoliate twice a week to remove dead skin cells.
- SERUM: Serums have a lightweight formula that allows them to penetrate to the lower levels of the dermis. Always apply your anti-ageing serums before applying a face cream or facial oil.
- MOISTURISER, OIL OR MASK: Moisture evaporates fast from dry and mature skin so, once your serum has been absorbed by the skin, seal in an extra layer of moisture with a hydration-boosting moisturiser, a facial oil or sleep mask. These nourish the outer surface of the skin and help to reduce water loss from the fragile skin barrier.

HOW TO APPLY ANTI-AGEING SKIN CARE
The way that you apply your skin care is just as important as the order that you apply them. Here Charlotte Vøhtz shares her top five tips for applying anti-ageing skin care effectively.
1: STAY OUT OF HOT WATER WHEN CLEANSING
Splashing your face with water after cleansing can help support healthy circulation to the skin surface but using extreme water temperatures should be avoided. This is because scalding or icy cold water can damage tiny capillaries in the skin. When this happens, the translucent epidermis can look flushed and broken thread veins may appear on the surface of the skin.
2: EXFOLIATE GENTLY
One thing you can do to help your skin care work harder is to help it sink deeper into the skin. Most anti-ageing creams and serums should be absorbed within seconds of application. If they take longer than this to absorb and need to be rubbed into the skin, it may be that old cells are clogging the skin surface and preventing your skin care from working as well as it could.
The best way to gently remove these cells and increase the absorption rate of your anti-ageing products is to exfoliate regularly. Mature skin is thin and delicate and to avoid damaging the skin it is best to use a gentle exfoliator made with small grains.
That’s why we make Soft Buff Skin Exfoliator with gentle exfoliating particles of Bamboo Stem. Apply this to a dry or damp face, neck and décolletage and work it into the skin using small circular motions, working upwards before rinsing.
3: MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR MOISTURISER
To make the most of your moisturising skin care, remember that less is more. When you apply anti-ageing cream or serum, use a small amount, helping it to absorb by using upward, light tapping motions. These motions help the moisturiser to penetrate the surface of the skin and also clear toxins and encourage blood flow, promoting healthy skin.
4: SKIP A STEP
Some skin care steps should never be missed. Healthy skin should to be cleansed, hydrated and protected against sunlight everyday but because mature skin is thin and delicate, some skin care steps could aggravate the skin if carried out too often.
To avoid damaging the skin, exfoliate the skin no more than 1-2 times per week and try to avoid use of ingredients such as ethanol or ethyl alcohol, which can dry and strip the skin. Age Defy+ by Cha Vøhtz uses pure, gentle botanicals and is entirely free from drying alcohol so you can be confident of a calm complexion.
5: SLEEP ON IT
Our skin behaves differently at night and whilst we sleep it removes waste, sheds flaky old skin and brings newer, brighter skin cells to the surface. To do this effectively it is important that the skin can breathe, so always cleanse impurities from the skin before bed and don’t clog the skin surface with thick creams that contain petrochemicals like Dimethicone or Paraffin which can act like a layer of cling-film on the skin.
Instead, apply a lightweight serum or facial oil at night, and once or twice a week support skin regeneration by applying the Hydra-Glow Sleep Mask. This sensual leave-on face mask is an effortless way to deliver the nutrients your skin needs, when it can maximise them the most. When you wake, cleanse the skin of any excess to reveal firmer, smoother, well-rested skin.
