Green People has been involved in supporting Chestnut Tree House for a number of years. We are very pleased to continue being a part of the fantastic work that they do.
What is Chestnut Tree House?
Chestnut Tree House is the only children’s hospice in Sussex and cares for over 280 children and young adults aged 0-25 from Sussex and South East Hampshire with progressive-life-limiting conditions.
The hospice offers support for the whole family and costs nearly £3 million per year to run. With only 8 pence per pound being funded by the government, the charity relies heavily on donations and fundraising.
Chief Executive Hugh Lowson spoke of the support given by Green People over the years:
"On behalf of everyone at Chestnut Tree House, I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to Green People for their incredible support over the years.
"As well as donating hundreds of prizes for our annual Snowman Spectacular Ball and products for sale in our charity shops, they have raised £9,000 - the equivalent of caring for one of our families for a whole year.
"We are delighted to have their support in this our tenth birthday year - without the help of companies like Green People and their staff, we would not be able to continue providing our vital care to life-limited children and their families across Sussex."
Charlotte Vøhtz, founder of Green People, says:
“We here at Green People are delighted to continue our support to Chestnut Tree House, an amazing charity with the most wonderful and caring staff.”
Donations from The Green People Team
In September 2013 the Green People team donated clothes, books, games and toys to the Chestnut Tree House 'Bag it and Give' initiative. The items were then taken to be sold in their charity shops to support the work of the hospice.
Hugh Lowson, Chief Executive of Chestnut Tree House expressed his thanks to Green People
"for supporting our Bag it and Give initiative’ and ‘being so generous in terms of both the quantity and quality of the goods that your team very kindly donated."
Mr Lowson estimated that items we collected would be able to raise over £500 and explained that:
"Finding quality stock for our retail shops is always a challenge and your 15 bags really will make the world of difference.
"The money raised from the sales will also be most welcome and will help meet the costs of providing the care to the children and families that need our support."
