Top tips to keep your resolutions the whole year through

Did you make a health or beauty New Year’s resolution? Around one in five[i] people do but, whilst we may start January with the best intentions of sticking to our resolutions, it is thought that less than halfi of people succeed in doing so.

‘Fail Friday’ falls in the 3rd week of January and is thought to be the date that many people ditch their resolution and slip back into their old habits. To help you stick to your skincare resolutions here we reveal how not to fall foul of ‘Fail Friday’.

RESOLUTION: TO BE SLICK AT USING FACIAL OILS

When Pinterest revealed their predicted beauty trends for 2018 ‘overachieving oils’ were high on their list. According to the social media channel, ‘Pins’ of cleansing oils increased by over 500 per cent in the last 12 months[ii], but how slick are you when it comes to incorporating oil into your skincare routine?

Your fail-proof products: plant-based oils

Incorporating oils into your skincare routine can be daunting, especially if you have oily or spot-prone skin. If you’re struggling to get to grips with facial oils, look out for products made with the plant extracts Jojoba and Rosehip. Jojoba seed oil helps to re-balance oil production and reduce outbreaks of blackheads and acne. Rosehip will help to improve skin’s elasticity and, because it contains a high level of natural vitamin E, it will also leave your skin feeling soft and smooth.

RESOLUTION: TO MASK-OVER PROBLEM SKIN

When Google announced their most searched for beauty trends of 2017 they revealed that, more and more, we are applying masks to our skin and hair[iii]. From sheet-masks to peel-off masks, if you’ve resolved to treat your skin to a #SundayFacial or #MaskMonday, there’s certainly no shortage of choice, but if you have dry skin you might well find that your skincare-solver is simply masking the problem.

Your fail-proof products: alcohol-free masks

Extend ‘Dry-January’ to your skincare and opt for a mask that is alcohol-free. Used as a preservative in skincare products, alcohol can cause the skin to dry out and leave it prone to sensitivity. To help nourish the skin naturally, apply our deeply nourishing Beauty Boost Skin Restore. Containing Wakame, Green Micro Algae and Jojoba esters, this luxury leave-on mask will not only help balance moisture levels but can also help boost collagen production and keep your skin hydrated for over eight hours.

RESOLUTION: TO GET YOUR TONGUE AROUND ASTAXANTHIN

Hard to pronounce and even harder to spell, Astaxanthin is the world’s strongest natural known antioxidant. Derived from algae, it is 550 times stronger than vitamin E and is tipped to be a coveted cosmetic ingredient for 2018 and beyond.

Your fail-proof product: Green Beauty with Astaxanthin

Healthy skin starts from within and adding an Astaxanthin supplement to your diet can help fight the signs of ageing whilst encouraging detoxification. For optimum results go for a supplement that combines Astaxanthin with nutrient-rich superfoods such as Seagreens® Seaweed, Barley grass, Wheatgrass, Spirulina and Chlorella. Age Defy+ Green Beauty Capsules will help rejuvenate your cells and can even help protect against the damaging effects of pollution, ultraviolet light and immune stress. Take 1-2 capsules twice daily with food.

RESOLUTION: TO EMBRACE THE POWER OF PREBIOTICS

Prebiotics are a form of ‘good bacteria’ that have long been added to the foods we eat. The benefit of these microorganisms is now being extended to our beauty regimes with manufacturers increasingly adding prebiotics to skincare formulations.

Your fail-proof products: Prebiotic powered face & body care

An easy way to incorporate prebiotics into your skincare regime is to make sure they are an ingredient in your base layer, such as your daily face moisturiser. We add prebiotics to our deodorants and many of our moisturisers to balance the skin’s natural flora levels and help prevent acne and body odour.

RESOLUTION: TO ‘CLEAN’ UP YOUR BEAUTY ACT

According to British Vogue 2018 will see the ‘natural’ beauty trend give way to ‘clean beauty’[iiii]- an umbrella term for products that are free from harsh chemical ingredients including parabens, Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS) and Petrochemicals.

Your fail-proof products: organic goodness you can trust

Decoding labels to determine how ‘clean’ your products are can be tricky but at Green People we are passionate about helping you understand exactly what you are putting on your skin. In case you’re in any doubt, ingredients that you won’t find in any of our products include; SLS, SLES, methylisothiazolinone (MI), methylchloroisothiazolinone (MCI), parabens, lanolin, phthalates, propylene glycol, alcohol (ethyl alcohol, ethanol), harsh foaming agents, irritating emulsifiers, synthetic fragrance, PABA-sunscreen, gluten, colourants, petrochemicals, urea, DEA, TEA or PEGs.
