Known as the ‘queen of waxes’, Carnauba wax is produced from the leaves of the carnauba palm or ‘copernicia prunifera’. This slow-growing fan palm can grow up to 15 metres tall and is native to the semi-arid areas of north-eastern Brazil, where it is perfectly adapted to withstanding drought.
The wax is extracted from the upper surface of the leaves and is the hardest natural wax available. It also has a very high melting point, making it perfect for thickening and stabilising make-up products such as Lip Crayons and Primers, as well as giving lips a beautifully glossy sheen.
The main component of Sunflower oil is linoleic acid.
It also contains other fatty acids including oleic acid and palmitic acid, as well as lecithin, carotenoids, tocopherols and reasonable quantities of vitamins A and D.
Also known as: Helianthus annuus seed oil
