A 1991 study shows that Avocado oil may mobilize and increase the collagen content of connective tissue
Vitamins A, D, and E, when applied topically, act as powerful antioxidants and free radical scavengers. When combined together they promote natural collagen production in the skin therefore helping to improve skin’s texture, firmness, smoothness, and even pigmentation.
Also known as: Persea gratissima oil
Extracted from the roots of the Baical Skullcap, this ingredient has remarkable anti-ageing properties on the skin in adults aged 30 or over.
Baicalin re-stimulates the production of Telomerase in adult skin cells, reducing the damage to the Telomeres, and can increase by 10% the number of cell duplications in skin fibroblasts before they finally die. The effect of this is to restore skin to the state it would have been ten years previously.
Also known as: Scutellaria baicalensis extract
Green Tea extract is a rich source of antioxidants called Catechins which have powerful activity against free radicals. Free radicals cause oxidative damage to fats (lipids) and skin cells, and are responsible for many aspects of premature ageing.
Green Tea extract also inhibits the activity of enzymes that are responsible for the break down of collagen - the underlying structure to the skin.
By protecting collagen, the integrity of the skin structure is preserved.
Also known as: Camellia sinensis leaf extract
Squalane, extracted from Olive oil, is the saturated (stable) form of Squalene. When applied to the skin it is transformed to the active form ‘Squalene’ by naturally occurring enzymes.
Adult skin is lubricated and protected against external aggressors by sebum. In healthy skin, sebum contains between 10-13% Squalene, but this level drops as we get older. Low levels of Squalene lead to dryness and flaking of the skin, reduced flexibility and increase the risk of bacterial and fungal infections. Eczema and psoriasis are also linked to low levels of Squalene.
