Key Plant Actives

Bentonite

Bentonite is a type of clay in the form of flat plate-like structures.  When hydrated, these plates form a three-dimensional lattice-like structure which has a gelling effect in creams and lotions.

This lattice structure has strong electro-magnetic attraction forces which, when applied to the skin, will attract and trap dead skin cells, toxins and pollutants thereby removing them from the skin.  It is therefore effective as a deep cleaning agent.
  • Effective deep cleaning natural clay
  • Attracts and traps dead skin cells, toxins and pollutants thereby removing them from the skin's surface

Green Tea

Green Tea extract is a rich source of antioxidants called Catechins which have powerful activity against free radicals.  Free radicals cause oxidative damage to fats (lipids) and skin cells, and are responsible for many aspects of premature ageing.

Green Tea extract also inhibits the activity of enzymes that are responsible for the break down of collagen - the underlying structure to the skin.

By protecting collagen, the integrity of the skin structure is preserved.

  • Rich source of antioxidants to help prevent oxidative cell damage
  • Protects against collagen breakdown preserving the skin structure

Also known as: Camellia sinensis leaf extract

Pineapple

Pineapple extract is rich in the substance Bromelain which is a protein digesting enzyme.  Applied to the skin this enzyme breaks down the protein bonds (corneodesmosomes) that hold dead skin cells onto the surface of the stratum corneum.

This allows excess dead cells to be shed from the skin, exposing younger, more vibrant cells and refining the complexion.

  • ‘Invisible’ chemical exfoliation – intercellular ‘glue’ that attaches dead skin cells to the surface is broken down
  • Skin is refined and looks younger
  • Combined with ‘skin whitening’ plant complex with Hibiscus to enhance whitening effect

Also known as Ananas sativus fruit extract or Bromelain
