Skin type, day time and time of year can all be deciding factors in whether you choose to use both serum and moisturiser in your skin care routine.
For normal or combination skin
The lightness of serum can mean that it is a great product for those with normal and combination skin to wear on its own during the summer months when rich moisturisers are often not needed.
For dry or mature skin
However, dry and mature skin types can struggle to hold onto moisture and will benefit most from a daytime skin care routine that layers moisturiser over serum.
For sensitive skin
Those with sensitive skin or an impaired skin barrier should apply serum and moisturiser all year round, especially during the winter months when winter weather and skin-drying central heating systems can exacerbate dryness and irritation.
