How to use concealer for redness, spots & dark circles

Concealer is one of the make-up bag staples that we cannot do without as it helps to give the complexion an even appearance. We especially love our organic concealer as it actively works to resolve spots whilst it covers them up.

What can concealer do?

Concealer is a skin tone evening cosmetic that’s used for reducing skin redness and covering skin imperfections.

Typically sold in pocket-sized tubes, concealer is ideal for using on small areas of skin, such dark eye circles, for covering blemishes and for replenishing your make-up coverage when out and about.

Green People’s natural and organic concealer is an active cover product that also helps to calm spots and blemishes. It is suitable for all ages and skin types.

Using concealer for redness

Concealer is a colour-correcting cosmetic and can be used to cover areas of redness.

When using concealer for redness, first prime your skin with scent-free skin care that contains soothing actives with properties that calm and balance the complexion.

Our unscented moisturisers and serum contain hydrating actives that replenish and soothe skin that’s prone to redness and irritation.

Scent Free Skin Care

Another simple way to reduce redness is with our Age Defy+ Anti-Redness Serum Oil. Simply mix a few drops with your scent-free day cream or apply directly to the skin. This uses Apricot Plant Stem Cell technology to improve microcirculation and reduce skin irritation.

Once your skin is primed and ready, simply smooth a small amount of concealer on to any areas of redness and blend it in.

Using concealer for dark circles

All skin types can be vulnerable to dark circles and as we age, the skin around our eyes gets thinner and tired eyes can become hard to hide.

Using concealer can help to diminish the appearance of dark circles but if you are prone to puffy, tired eyes, consider using a facial massage tool such as a gua sha or roller massage tool a few times a week.

Facial massage helps to stimulate circulation in the skin around the eye, drain away inflammation and will help to reduce puffiness.

Gua Sha

When using concealer for dark circles, first prime the skin with a firming eye serum. Doing this will help your eye circle concealer to sit well and will stop it from looking creased or cakey.

Gently tap your eye serum in to stimulate circulation around the eyes and then smooth the concealer onto the dark circle area, blending carefully.

You can apply concealer to the eyes using a brush, but it’s also completely fine to dab on a few dots and blend these in using a clean finger.

To further distract attention away from dark circles, sweep on a lash-lengthening mascara. Our brown natural mascara produces a naturally volumized lash look and brightens blue and green eyes.

Using concealer for spots

Concealer is great for covering spots and the earth mineral pigments and plant extracts used in our Oy! Clear Skin Blemish Concealer will cover and actively reduce red, raised blemishes.

Spots can be caused by clogged pores so, when using a natural concealer for spots, make sure it is non-pore clogging.

Our Oy! Clear Skin Blemish Concealer contains spot-fighting actives like Green Tea and Tea Tree which help to fade spots and prevent their re-emergence.

Green Tea

If you continue to get spots beyond your teens, our Age Defy+ Purifying Balancing Oil Serum drops could also help you to calm your complexion.

This contains sebum-balancing Jojoba Oil and blemish-fighting Black Cumin Seed Oil and can be applied as an ‘on the spot’ treatment or mixed with moisturiser to give day creams an anti-blemish boost.

Using concealer as foundation

You can make an anti-blemish tinted moisturiser my mixing our Oy! Clear Skin Blemish Concealer with your day cream. This gives great, natural coverage but it may be better to use one of our Tinted Moisturisers if you are intending to apply foundation every day.

These come in a choice of two tones and can also be blended together to create a deeper shade. The advantage of applying these natural tinted moisturisers over concealer is that they come in a bigger tube and contain SPF15.
