Sustainable beauty ingredients: What is by-product skin care?

Sourcing sustainable beauty products is easier than you think! Here we explain why we’ve used by-product beauty ingredients to make some of our natural skin care innovations and reveal the sustainable beauty ingredients that are best for your skin type.

What are by-product ingredients?

A by-product is something that is created during a manufacturing process which is not needed in the final product. The food and beauty industries are notorious for producing natural by-product ingredients and nourishing fruit extracts, like coconut and apple waters, which are often unnecessarily wasted.

By-product skin care utilises these ingredients that would otherwise be wasted and makes use of their natural properties including their vitamins, minerals and fruit acids. Making good use of these sustainable beauty ingredients brings balance to the skin and the planet.

3 benefits of by-product beauty

  1. Reduces waste

  2. Sustainable

  3. Natural

Why does Green People use by-product beauty ingredients?

Green People was founded on a strong set of principles and a promise never to compromise the environment through the manufacture of its products.

Charlotte says: “We’re always looking to do more to minimise our environmental impact and using by-product ingredients is a no-brainer for us! These natural, zero-waste plant actives are bursting with skin-compatible nourishment and allow us to close the loop on making our skin care as sustainable as it can be.”

INSIDE OUR BY-PRODUCT BEAUTY MANUFACTURING PROCESS

  • Apples ripen and are picked for harvest
  • Fruit crisp manufacturers use a special dehydration process to dry out the apples
  • The drying process drains the fruit of their juicy cellular water
  • We capture the water and use it to make our Nordic Roots range

Why is by-product beauty good for the skin?

RAW GOODNESS

Our by-product beauty ingredients are derived from raw, natural materials and are uncompromised by skin-drying ingredients, such as ethanol alcohol and synthetic fragrances.

NATURALLY POTENT

The by-product beauty ingredients used by Green People are all naturally high in effective, nourishing properties that boost the skin’s hydration and help to slow the skin ageing process.

PURE & GENTLE

Our antioxidant-rich plant extracts gently nourish the skin and their purity ensures that they are suitable for all skin types.

You only need to apply a few drops of skin-plumping Hyaluronic Booster Serum to leave skin awash with long-lasting natural hydration. If your skin is very dry, follow with the soothing Scent Free Apple Complex Moisturiser to nurture the skin barrier and seal hydration into the skin.
