In general our skin care products have a shelf life of a minimum 30 months from the date they are made. Our sun lotions have a similar life-span as regards to freshness of their base but the effectiveness of their sun protection reduces with age.
The amount of reduction is dependent upon the way they have been stored. As a guide they lose 5-10% of their effectiveness each year. However, we recently had one of our products tested after 3 years and it was found not to have lost any effectiveness at all. This product had been stored in optimal, cool, low light conditions.
It is recommended that you replace your sun lotion every 6 months, especially if your sun lotion has been left lying in the sun/hot sand or stored in particularly warm conditions.
It is actually possible to find the manufacture date of our products, since that is what the Batch Number is made up of. If you look at the crimped seal at the top of the tube you will notice some numbers embossed into it. The date of manufacture is in the form mmyydd.
