Beeswax skin care: 3 beauty benefits of Beeswax

Beeswax is a remarkable natural ingredient which is perfectly suited for use in cosmetics and beauty products.

Discover the many benefits of Beeswax for skin and explore a selection of natural make-up and organic Beeswax skin care products.

3 benefits of Beeswax for skin

Beeswax has plenty of benefits for skin, which is why it can be found in a wide range of beauty products.

Its creamy texture is non-pore clogging and it has a low rate of allergic reactions. We don’t use it in many of our products because it is not suitable for vegans but we think so much of Beeswax we do use it in selected products.

Benefits of Beeswax for skin include:

  • Being naturally water repellent without clogging pores
  • Protecting the skin barrier
  • Locking in hydration to keep skin feeling soft for longer

We’ll look at these benefits in more detail in the next few sections.

  1. Water repellent

The molecular structure and water repellence of Beeswax makes it ideal for anchoring make-up products and balms to your skin, meaning you can rely on it to deliver long-lasting benefits.

Our naturally water-resistant mascara contains organic Beeswax to protect lashes from raindrops and tears.

It has the added benefit of nourishing the lashes, rather than leaving them brittle.

  1. Protects the skin barrier

The natural barrier properties of Beeswax mean that it forms a protective film on the surface of the skin.

This helps to protect the skin from harm – crucially without blocking the pores and or stopping the skin from being able to breathe.

  1. Prevents water loss

Not only does Beeswax help to keep water out, but it also helps keep water in. By acting as a protective, breathable layer on the skin’s surface, Beeswax helps to lock in moisture for soft, hydrated skin.

We particularly love Beeswax in our soothing balms; scroll down for more about them!

3 of the best Beeswax balms

Our Beeswax-based skin care balms melt effortlessly into the skin and were developed to have multiple uses so that they can be used at every stage of your skin care routine.

1. One Balm

This multi-purpose barrier balm is best used to nourish the skin and nails and we think it makes a great natural lip balm too. Simply smooth a small amount over lips to keep lips soft and keep dryness at bay.

2. Age Defy+ Ultimate Wonder Balm

Our Ultimate Wonder Balm can also be used to nourish the skin and nails and is rich in skin-regenerating actives.

Our favourite way to use this Beeswax skin care balm is to use it as an oil-based cleansing balm to melt away make-up.

After cleansing your skin feels silky soft and is left beautifully scented with opulent Jasmine, Champak Flower and Orange Peel Oil.

3. Organic Babies Soothing Baby Salve

Organic Babies Soothing Baby Salve uses organic Beeswax to create a water-resistant barrier for baby’s bottom, holding the dampness away from the skin, allowing it time to heal.

This ‘rescue salve’ is scented with organic Lavender essential oil which releases a calming and restful aroma for baby.

Not just for babies, this eczema-friendly salve can be used by all members of the family and is ideal for soothing hands left dry from frequent hand washing.
